Saints chances for Online NFL Football betting supremacy in 2012 take yet another hit!

This offseason despite already having the NFL draft, and a ton of player movement including future hall of famer Peyton Manning, no story has been as big in the world of pro football betting as the “Bounty” scandal involving the New Orleans Saints. We already knew that professional football betting online would look different this season due to the suspensions of coaches Sean Peyton and Gregg Williams, but the problems didn’t stop there for the Saints. Last week, the “Bounty” scandal was once again made the main focus of online sports betting when the NFL announced that players would be suspended as well. Involved in these suspensions are 2 of the Saints best defensive players.

Saints chances for online NFL football betting supremacy in 2012 take yet another hit!

Will Smith has been suspended for 4 games to start the year which will be a big loss for the Saints considering Smith is one of the top defensive ends in professional football betting. But a much more devastating suspension was the loss of J. Vilma for the entire season! Not only was Vilma one of the most consistent inside linebackers than NFL betting online had to offer, but he was also the leader of the defensive unit for the Saints. Not having him for the entire year, is the equivalent of the offense not having Drew Brees. It will be very tough for the Saints to overcome all of this, but if we have learnt anything over the years when it comes to betting on NFL football, it’s that the Saints tend to be their best when they play with a chip on their shoulder.

Griffin III to raise the online NFL football betting odds of winning for whatever team drafts him!

While all of the attention in the professional football betting world seems to be on consensus #1 overall pick Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III (RGIII) may be the gem of this draft! RGIII as they call him has been underrated ever since his high school days, in fact despite the incredible talent he showed growing up in Texas, he never got offered a scholarship from the biggest schools in his state like Texas university! In fact not a single powerhouse in college football betting offered RGIII a scholarship, and so he attended Baylor university, and became potentially the best thing to ever happen to the program. If you participated in online college football gambling this past season, you are undoubtedly familiar with the QB, as he and the Baylor Bears were one of the most popular college football betting lines week in and week out. Teams overlooked him in college, and he overcame all the adversity and proved all the doubters wrong. After the stellar numbers he put up at the combine, there is no doubt in my mind that RGIII has all of the tools needed to be just as dominant when it comes to Online American football betting at the pro level. The Rams currently have the 2nd overall pick and with Sam Bradford already on the team, they won’t be drafting a QB. The 2 teams looking to trade up to that spot are Cleveland and Washington. Whatever team trades up to get him will not be disappointed. RGIII has the speed of Vick, but is a much better thrower than Vick ever was coming out of college. With all of the talent he has there is no reason why one day RGIII won’t be one of the biggest names in online sports betting!

SuperBowl proves once again that it is the biggest game in online sports betting!

Year in and year out no game in sports brings in as much action to online sports betting websites, or sportsbooks in general than the SuperBowl. That’s nearly 100 million dollars wagered on professional football betting on 1 game! If that doesn’t prove to you how big the Superbowl is, then I don’t know what will. That 94 million $ was only what was wagered in Nevada, experts estimate that more than 10 billion dollars was wagered on the Giants/Patriots worldwide! Football gambling online is always a popular choice with bettors at all the best online sports betting sites, but never as big as on Superbowl Sunday. Week 17 in Professional football betting online isn’t like any other week

Week 17 is like no other when it comes to football gambling online, as teams aren’t all playing for the same things anymore. Certain teams are at the bottom of the standings, have no chances of making the playoffs, and a win would only hurt the teams draft status. Yet there are other teams lower in the standings, that don’t care about the draft pick. The only goal they have this week is to finish the season off with a big win and play spoiler. Certain coaches and players want wins to finish the year because they know that their jobs are on the line. So in online football betting this week, when betting underdogs make sure you know the situation of the team you are in, and make sure that they are trying to play spoilers if you want to take them! The other type of game to look out for this week is teams that are fighting for playoff positioning, or are facing must-wins! These are the types of football betting odds that a bettor loves to see. When making your football betting picks, you clearly would be at an advantage if you find a team that needs to win matched up against a team that has nothing to play for. As the week goes on a team’s intentions for week 17 will become more clear, certain key players for teams that have already clinched (ex: Packers) will be benched, while other teams will risk playing injured players because they need wins. A secret to betting on football in week 17 is to discern which teams will be giving it 100% and which teams are already thinking about next year. Whatever you do in week 17, just be careful, because in the world of online sports betting in the NFL there are no more uncertain weeks than week 1 and week 17! Enjoy the football and bet wisely!

Secret to betting on football: Stats aren’t everything!

One common mistake that people make in online American football betting, especially in the NFL, is to rely solely on stats to make weekly football betting picks. Don’t get me wrong, stats are very important, and should be a huge part of making your weekly online NFL football betting picks, but sometimes it takes more than that. If you don’t want to take my word for that, then just look at what Tim Tebow has done with the Denver Broncos since becoming the starter.

Tebow took over a 1-4 Broncos team, and has since gone 5-1 in his 6 starts! That is an incredible turnaround, however, if you look at his stats you wouldn’t be all that impressed. In fact, his stats over the last 6 games have been some of the worst in the league. He has completed only 46% of his passes, and averaged under 130 yards passing per game. Those numbers are horrendous; however, the only stat that Tebow cares about is wins. Kyle Orton, the QB for the Broncos when they went 1-5 averaged over 100 more passing yards per game, and yet had nowhere near as much success. Sometimes stats don’t matter as much as you would think, and Tim Tebow is proof of that. He has an x-factor, which cannot be measured in stats. You just need to learn to be careful going against players like Tebow, no matter what the numbers tell you in NFL football betting. Be sure to remember this the next time you look at pro football betting line’s and combine that with whatever other NFL Football Betting Strategies that you use.

Online American Football betting: Stanford runs out of Luck

Whether you participate in college football betting or NFL football betting, the name Andrew Luck has been hard not to take note of. If you follow the NFL, then you have no doubt heard about the “Suck for Luck” campaign, in which fans want their teams to finish in last place so that they could draft Luck with the 1st pick. And if you follow college football then you know Luck because he was the leading Heisman candidate, and had Stanford in position to potentially challenge for the national championship. Luck and Stanford have consistently been one of the safest college football betting lines over the past 2 seasons. However, all of that changed last weekend as Luck looked horrible vs Oregon, as he and Stanford both let thousands of bettors/fans down. Luck completed only 27 out of 41 passes, which was way under his regular completion percentage. He threw for only 256 yards, despite trailing most of the game. But the worst part was that he turned the ball over three times (2 interceptions & 1 fumble). That’s shocking considering he hadn’t thrown 2 interceptions in a game in his last 17 starts! Now what exactly did this poor performance show us? Did it show that Luck isn’t as good as everyone thought, and that you should avoid betting him in the future? I don’t think so, as Luck hasn’t been made the consensus #1 overall draft pick for no reason. With his pedigree, there is no doubt that he will continue to make money for bettors in online college football gambling. In my opinion, Luck’s performance last week simply showed that there is no such thing as a sure thing when it comes to betting football online! So for those of you who are ready to give up on Luck, I wouldn’t do that just yet. Because not only will he bounce back in college, but one day Luck will become one of the QB’s you rely on when you look at NFL football betting line ‘s!

Online NFL football betting tips: half-time bets

If you like to bet football online then one of the options you should begin to consider are half-time bets. When it comes to online American football betting (college or NFL) you could place wagers on the 1st half or 2nd half instead of wagering on the entire game. This could be a very enticing option for you depending on your personal preferences. But the added option definitely leads to more opportunities for you to find a bet that you like. In fact sometimes you could use the 2nd half bets in order to protect yourself, if you could see that the 1st half got out of hand and you could tell that you will lose your game bet. For example: Let’s take a look at last week’s Patriots/Giants game.

One of the most popular Online NFL football betting odds of the week was the Patriots/Giants to go over 51 points. The only problem was the people who took that bet, looked like they had no chance at halftime as the score was still 0-0. For the people that loved the potential for offense in this game, the 2nd half bet was a great option. Had you bet the 2nd half of the Patriots and Giants to go over, you would have won easily, as the 2 teams combined for 44 points. They scored so much in the 2nd half that they almost managed to meet the game’s total! So next time you head to one of your online football betting sites, see if they offer half-time bets. The option to wager half-way through the game, adds a whole other dynamic to online sports betting. Who knows maybe you will try them out and it will manage to make NFL betting online even more fun and more lucrative for you!

Online NFL football betting trends Week 8

NFL betting online last week wasn’t too kind to the heavy favorites of the week. Last week was a weird week in the NFL to begin with, as 6 out of 13 spreads were higher than 7.5 points. That is a lot of points to be giving up in NFL football betting on line. Last week the 4 largest NFL point Spread ‘s were all over 9.5, and not a single one of them covered! In fact, in those 4 games the favorites went only 0-3-1!

The Texans were the only of these 4 favorites that actually was in control of the game throughout, as they beat the Jags 24-14; not good enough to cover, but good enough to get a push. The other 3 didn’t even come close! Let’s take a look at those games in which underdogs defied the football betting odds.

NYG -9.5 vs MIA: The Giants ended up winning this game 20-17,but were never in control as the Dolphins led for almost the entire game. Had it not been for an incredible game by Eli Manning the Giants may have even lost this game.

BAL -11.5 vs ARI: Baltimore came out extremely flat, and trailed 24-3 late in the 1st half! But then Baltimore came alive and managed to win the game despite trailing by 21 points, an incredible comeback! However, despite the comeback, they still came nowhere near to covering the huge spread.

N.O. -13.5 @ STL: New Orleans was favored by almost 2 TD’s against the winless Rams. Not only did the Saints not cover, but they lost this game straight up as the Rams won 31-21 for their first win of the season.

In all 3 of these games with teams favored to win by 2 scores, the underdog was in position to win the game. That says a lot about the parity in the NFL and why you need to be careful only betting favorites in football gambling online. If you are going to bet football online, realizing that there is no such thing as a sure thing is one of the keys to success, and this week did a perfect job of proving that.
